TTR COACHES
This list covers tinplate coaches manufactured up to the early sixties.
Most Trix coaches are the short bogie type (8 wheels), and were manufactured between approx. 1936 and 1958 in a variety of colours:
  • LMS maroon
  • LNER 'teak' brown
  • Southern Railways green
  • BR red and cream
  • BR maroon
  • Southern Region green.
  • A 'Continental' green coach with a Paris-Basle sign on both sides (see pic)
  • A green coach with "TTR" on each side

The suburban bogie coach was made in BR red, BR maroon, and Engineer's black.

A parcels coach was made in BR red and BR maroon; a special version was fitted with an electrically operated whistle (pictured on right).

Pre-war, Trix also manufactured 4-wheel coaches in LMS and LNER livery.

The longer Trix coaches are listed as 'Scale'. These were also produced in a variety of colours to match the railway companies' liveries of the time.
A Pullman coach was produced in brown and cream.
Some of the scale coaches are fitted with lighting with electrical pickup through brass wheels and a collector shoe.

In the later 50's, Trix fitted interior furniture to the scale coaches. Then the tinplate coaches were discontinued, and production in plastic continued to the 70's.  

On the table below:

  • P: Trix catalogue number prefix, normally 2 = LMS, 4 = LNER, 5 = Southern, 1 = BR.
  • TTR : Trix catalogue number
  • ITEM : description
  • CO : livery (British Railways, Southern Railways, London Midland Scottish, London North Eastern Railway)
  • COLOUR : colour of body
  • YEAR : Pre = prewar (pre 1939), Post = postwar (post 1945), 50's = approx 1951 - 1956, DC = approx 1957 onwards
